The human mind is an amazing thing. It does so much, from storing and organising our memories to running our bodies, protecting and preserving us at all times. And there is a massive difference between what we can do with our conscious and unconscious minds. The conscious mind, limited to our logical, rational thinking, can only handle between five and nine pieces of information at any one time. Compare that to the power of the unconscious mind. It handles millions of bits of information in any one moment. Knowing this, just imagine what you can achieve when you start working with the power of the unconscious mind.
The mind, then, has two parts; the conscious and the unconscious. As we learn new things our conscious mind processes what we’re learning and then moves it into the unconscious.
Take a moment to think about learning to drive and how initially it perhaps felt like an impossible task, with so many different things to do with your hands and feet, while watching the road and checking your mirrors. It creates a conscious overload when we first start driving as we get to grips with the multiple processes involved. The same applies to any other skill which requires multiple actions and processes to make it happen. At first, it feels overwhelming because it is. Our conscious minds can only handle so much.
After time, though, the skill becomes second nature, seemingly automatic, as all the processes move to the unconscious mind where we store the skill as one huge process with all of its component parts. At this point, we seemingly drive, for example, with no real thought as the processes take place in our unconscious mind. And the process only comes into our consciousness if something is different and requires us to take a different action.
And while all of this is taking place, our unconscious mind is processing and storing our memories. It is where are emotions are formed. Additionally, it regulates the body and keeps us safe. Further to this, it likes to serve, requiring clear instructions, and taking the easiest route to success. Curiously, it processes negatives badly, so if I tell you not to think of a blue tree, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?
One crucial difference between the conscious and unconscious mind is linked to goals. We set goals with our conscious mind. The unconscious mind, on the other hand, is the goal-getter. It’s the reason that we need precise goals, with well-defined outcomes. These outcomes must be in the positive. Tell yourself clearly what you want and unlock the achieving power of the unconscious mind.
Learning to use the power of the unconscious mind is a skill. Hypnosis can help unlock that power, as hypnosis allows us to talk directly with the unconscious mind. We bypass the limited capacity of the conscious mind. Instead, hypnosis can provide direction, clarity and purpose in a way which increases your chances of success.
If you know what to do and how to unlock that power, do it now. If you’re not sure, book an initial consultation here, and then take the next step. You know that you can do it and you know that it makes sense, don’t you?
